Everything You Want to Know About MONQ- Your Personal Portable Therapeutic Air Diffuser

Looks can be deceiving. This is a concept that definitely applies to the MONQ therapeutic air diffuser, though it’s a diffuser; it doesn’t look like one at all!

If you just want a quick overview, you can click here to read a summary

MONQ is the latest, and possibly greatest, addition to the essential oil diffuser world in recent times. By creating something that is light, easy to carry, and affordable, the creators of MONQ hope to introduce the benefits of aromatherapy to you whenever you need it.

The diffuser is canister shaped, more like an e-cigarette, which it is commonly mistaken for, than any conventional diffuser you might be familiar with. However, unlike e-cigarettes, there is no nicotine, artificial flavoring, or harsh chemicals contained inside.

Instead, MONQ is a recyclable diffuser that can help you change your mood, energy levels, concentration, and lower stress, just to name a few. This is all done through their custom blend of essential oils designed to suit a variety of different purposes and situations.

You don’t need to be an essential oils expert to use MONQ

monq vape personal oil diffuser our complete review

Even if you have no experience with essential oils, you’ll have no trouble using this simple aromatherapy device. Don’t worry about not knowing what scents to combine, how much of each oil to put into a mixture, or having to buy lots of different aromas to get the effect you want. Monq has taken care of all of that for you.

It is available in 7 ready-to-use organic, natural, and nicotine-free blends without any artificial chemicals or tobacco. You just choose your blend based on how you want to feel, open the MONQ and start breathing. These personal essential oil diffusers turn their custom blend of essential oils and vegetable glycerin into vapor for easy absorption.

Aromatherapy does more than offer a pleasing fragrance; it provides many psychological and physiological benefits like stress reduction, improved sex, and enhanced energy levels. While aromatherapy can be enjoyed in many ways, most techniques are not portable. This is where MONQ has an advantage; it is portable so you can use them wherever and whenever you want.

You can carry it to the office, use it while commuting and even take it on vacation in case you need a little relaxation time after being cooped up with your family 24/7.

Is it safe?

MONQ therapeutic air is safe to use. Its essential oil blends and heated vapor delivery system is safe to use as directed, but not for people suffering from allergies to essential oils, respiratory illnesses like chronic bronchitis, asthma or acute respiratory infections. Pregnant and nursing women should also consult their physician before using.

Because MONQ doesn’t contain any synthetic chemicals or artificial flavors and uses organic vegetable glycerin made from plant oils, it is considered much safer than any other vaporizer out there, and shouldn’t be thought of in the same category. MONQ doesn’t contain any illegal substances like marijuana, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or any other drugs.

USA-grown organic plants are extracted and infused into 100% pure, FDA-recognized food-grade glycerin for all 7 MONQ blends. It’s legal to use in 50 American states and most countries worldwide.

How is MONQ different?

MONQ is the first portable diffuser around which promises an intimate aromatherapy experience. While you can apply essential oils directly to your skin or add it to food, they are most effective when particles are diffused, and the aroma reaches your nose’s smell-related nerve endings.

With MONQ, you benefit from both ingesting the oils and get the aromatherapy benefits from the therapeutic air.

The proper way to use MONQ

Don’t worry if you’ve never smoked before. You don’t need to know any special technique to use MONQ. Gentle puffs are more than enough, and there is no need to tightly wrap your lips around the diffuser or inhale sharply.

All you have to do is remove the personal diffuser from its protective case and press the end with the tiny circular opening to your lips. Breathe in but don’t inhale. The aromatic vapor doesn’t need to travel to your lungs, just enjoy your high-quality blend aromatherapy experience.

The effects are not instantaneous, so you won’t feel a sudden change right away. Don’t worry that doesn’t mean it’s not working. Your body just need time to absorb and react. One or two gentle breaths are more than enough, and it is not recommended to breath in the blend continuously.

You don’t actually smoke MONQ since there is no burning of any substance here. The visible haze is water vapor, similar to steam from boiling water. The liquid inside is heated to about 215 degrees, but the casing will protect you from any burns or injuries.

Use it as often as you like, starting just once or twice a day, and then adjusting as you see fit. While most aromatherapy diffusers use blends of one or two plants at a time, MONQ uses more complex mixtures to create myriad aromatherapy benefits.

Who is MONQ made for?

Virtually anyone can benefit from the use of MONQ for various reasons like relaxing, as an energizer, for improved sex, or for improved concentration.

Monq not only helps you relax, but it is particularly useful for providing relief to people who suffer from anxiety. Many people also use it to help them quit smoking.

However it is important to note that the product is not intended for anyone under 18, and former smokers should consider if using MONQ will increase the chances of their return to smoking.

Who created MONQ?

Dr. Eric Fishman is the creator of MONQ, in hopes that more people would be able to enjoy the benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy. The company was founded in July 2014 and currently is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.

MONQ works like a traditional home diffuser; the only difference is that it fits into your pocket and sticks with you throughout the day. Instead of emitting essential oils throughout a room, like with an ultrasonic or nebulizing diffuser, MONQ allows you to breathe in the same natural compounds you would breathe in nature. These aromas are delivered straight to your mouth and nose.

MONQ is easy to use as there is no mixing of oils, charging of devices, changing batteries or even buttons to turn on. All plant material used in MONQ diffusers is processed into essential oils and whole plant extracts.

Most oils are produced using steam distillation or CO2 extraction without any alcohol and then blended into organic soy-based vegetable glycerin. Giving you a natural, safe, organic product.

While each blend lists three main base ingredients for easy understanding, they actually contain a dozen ingredients each. If you have any allergies to plants or essential oils, be sure to read what each blend is made of before using the product.

Due to the popularity of the 7 MONQ blend diffusers, the company has recently released the MONQstyle necklace. It is the first jewelry piece designed specifically for wellness, and each necklace is handmade. They offer a more stylish and convenient aromatherapy experience while driving, exercising, working, or whatever your busy day holds.

Quick Overview

If you just want a quick summary of the whole article, or to check out a particular fact, go ahead and scan this section here.

  • The most important feature of the MONQ is its portability. Unlike the larger traditional units, the MONQ is light and compact enough to carry around in your pocket, to use as, and when you need. The case is light and durable, made from stainless steel and coated with non-toxic, lead-free paint. The 3 main ingredients of each blend are embossed on the outside for easy identification.
  • Another important feature of MONQ is that you do not inhale any vapor by using it. You just open the diffuser, press your mouth to the device and then gently breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose. There’s no need to inhale the vapors into your lungs. The process is designed so that the nerve endings on your nose pick up the scents and benefits of the essential oil aroma.
  • The diffuser is powered by a recyclable, high-quality lithium-ion battery with 210mAh capacity and which operates at 0.882 watt-hours and can withstand about 120 degrees Celsius of heat. So there’s no risk of overheating or combustion even under extreme circumstances.
  •  The MONQ device uses a nickel-chromium resistance wire to heat the essential oil blends. Silica threads wick the oil into the heating chamber, and about 0.0033ml of essential oils get consumed with a gentle breath.
  •  The aromatherapy oils turn into a mist of water vapor and carbon dioxide when heated. You inhale the mist through your mouth and exhale through the nose to reap its benefits.
  •  You know when MONQ is no longer usable when it’s LED crystal stops lighting up on breathing in as this is when the battery dies. You’ll also know when to change diffusers if you get a slightly bitter taste when breathing. This is a sign that the essential oils have run out.
  •  Currently, there is no way to refill the cartridges in the diffusers. However, the company does offer an alternative recycling incentive. For every 10 used ones you send back, you will receive one free.
  •  MONQ uses significantly smaller amounts of essential oils when compared to a room diffuser. You get the same effects from it using thousandths of an ml of essential oils instead of the few drops needed in a diffuser.

Some people do not enjoy the flavor or scents of certain blends

It is not an e-cig but CAN help people quit smoking

MONQ is not an e-cigarette and doesn’t contain nicotine or tobacco, but can help people that are trying to quit smoking. Not everyone is comfortable with nicotine gum and patches, and e-cigs usually have a bad taste.

MONQ, on the other hand, gives a beautiful hand to mouth movement while providing the ‘feel’ of an e-cigarette. It also has a wonderful smell and flavor and effectively promotes a feeling of calm.

This means you can phase out the ingestion of nicotine and tobacco while satisfying the motions of smoking. For many smokers, it’s the automatic habit of picking up a cigarette that makes quitting difficult. Instead of waking up with a cup of coffee and your first cigarette of the day, break the habit.

Enjoy your coffee while using the Zen MONQ blend. See, already one cigarette less for the day.

How much does MONQ cost?

Monq comes in 7 custom blends which can be bought individually or as part of a pack. Each MONQ diffuser costs $20 plus shipping, so just under $25. If you’re interested in trying out more than one blend at a time, there are different packs you can buy that come at a discounted price.

Try one out or many out to see what blend you like the best. The prices are considered extremely affordable for such a high-quality product. Remember, when you’re buying MONQ, you’re not just purchasing a toy or item, you’re contributing to your health. There really isn’t a price you can put on that.

How long does it last?

On average, one diffuser gives about 200 breaths, which is about a month of continuous use. This, of course, can change depending on how often you use the diffuser. It is important to know that the more intensely you use the product, the more quickly it is depleted.

For instance, it is possible to use up the device with 100 strong breaths in one day, but it is not at all recommended by the manufacturer for this kind of use.

Most users are satisfied with 2-3 breaths every few hours because of the robust and complex flavors found in all the blends. Many people feel that the full flavors are satisfying and they end up requiring fewer and softer breathes than anticipated.

In fact, it is the robust flavor of the blend which makes users end up requiring fewer and softer breaths than anticipated. This means you can enjoy your single MONQ device for a long time, or switch between multiple blends as you like.

Does monq oil essentials show up on random drug tests?

Jessica November 28, 2017 at 5:50 pm

Hi Debbie!

Drug tests usually work by testing for traces of known substances that are preselected to be screened. Since essential oils aren’t harmful, I don’t believe I have ever heard of any drug test that would look for these compounds. MONQ also only uses organic substances without any additives, so for any reason they were detected, they would not be looked negatively upon.

Hi Allyssa!

Great questions. Currently the company is looking into a way to make their diffusers more sustainable, whether through a refillable device, or another option entirely.

Currently though, they have a recycling program where you can go to this page on their site print a free shipping label and send it back to them. This way they can dispose of them properly and you don’t have to do anything besides print a label and stick it in the mail!

hi I received my Vibrant Monq today and I don’t know how to open it??
I can’t seem to get it open?

Please write me back ASAP

I want to try!! But the sleeve isn’t user friendly to get the Monq product out??

Jessica December 15, 2017 at 2:23 pm

Hi Amy. If you take a look at your MONQ, right at the end of the package where it has the name of the blend ( in this case vibrant) you will be able to pop off the top, kind of like a screw top water bottle. Pinch in and squeeze while you pull upward. A little part of the casing will come off.

Then you’ll be able to slide out your MONQ and start using it right away. Breathe in and enjoy!

Can I keep the same pen and just change the flavors

Jessica January 6, 2018 at 2:54 pm

Hi Ashley!

As of right now, it is not possible. Each pen comes with the oils blended in it already and does not offer a switch out option or refill option. However, this may be something in the future as I know MONQ is working on finding a way to recycle their products. If you need to return any of the empty personal diffuers, you can print a prepaid return label and send it right back in at your connivence.

Does monq interfere with medications

Jessica January 22, 2018 at 1:22 pm

Hi Michele,

MONQ does recommend you speak with your doctor if you have any specific concerns. However, since you’re not ingesting the oils, or applying them directly, there should not be an issue with most medications. Off the top of my head, if your medication makes you sensitive to smells, or nauseous easily, you may want to test oil the personal diffusers in small batches (breathes) to make sure you don’t have adverse reactions to the aromas.

What if my Monq light is blinking??

Jessica January 29, 2018 at 11:42 am

Hi Natalie!

If you’ve had it for a while, that is an indicator that your monq is finished. You can go to their website and get some credit for returning your empty vaporizer pens for recycling with them. If it’s a new one and you haven’t been using it, feel free to contact their customer service. They’ve always been lovely and super quick to respond to any of my inquiries.

My monq is blinking and I just received it today what do I do?

Jessica February 16, 2018 at 12:06 pm

I would definitely contact them. Find the information here or by phone 1 (844) ZEN-MONQ.
Hours Monday – Friday 9 till 5 EST. It says they have a live chat from the site, but I haven’t tried this before. I’ve always had a quick response when I email.

Hope they can get it resolved!

How long do the monq’s last because I am looking into getting one but I want to see if it’s worth my mon

Payne March 2, 2018 at 1:45 pm

Could it cause you to get addicted like vaping

Jessica March 15, 2018 at 6:09 pm

Hey there Payne.

How long they last depends on how often you use it. Each diffuser hold about 200 breathes. If you are using them more frequently, like when you have a rough day, they may last a little shorter than someone who uses them occasionally. I’ve personally had mine for 3 months and they’re still going strong.

As for getting addicted the answer is nope. There is nothing addictive about MONQ, except maybe getting used to feeling better due to the natural organic benefits of the essential oils. There is absolutely no nicotine or other chemicals like that in them.

If you decide to try them out I hope you’ll love them as much as I do! You can check out their current blends here

Kelsey April 2, 2018 at 4:52 am

What are the negatives /cons about MONQ? I want to try them for my stress but just doing a little more digging before jumping right on into it. Can they get addictive or possibly become a “gateway” to smoking/vaping? Basically just looking for the negatives before so far I’ve only found really good things about the product lol.

Jessica April 7, 2018 at 10:51 am

Hi Kelsey,

Great question. It’s always good to be through when looking into trying a new thing. For me honestly, I haven’t experienced any cons and I’be used many of the different blends. My personal favorite is Zen, because I also starting looking into Monq to help kind of de-stress and relax me while I focused on work and kind of just being more present in the moment. My only negative so far is that my husband sometimes uses my MONQ because he likes it too, then I eventually have to buy more.

There are absolutely no non organic additives and you don’t inhale while using MONQ, so its much different than vaping or smoking. I personally do not see any correlation or causation between the two. In fact if you are a smoker, or for people who have smoked before, this might even be a good way to stop, or smoke less because in some cases, smoking is just as much due to the habit of having something in your hand, and the ritual of smoking, rather than the actual nicotine.

Monq is super portable, super light, and so far I love it. If you try it I hope it works for you to relax a bit. If you’re still on the fence, you can still work to destress using a normal diffuser and my top picks for essential oils for stress which you can read about here

Chianna Allsup April 19, 2018 at 6:48 pm

Is it like liquid pot

Jessica April 21, 2018 at 10:40 am

Hi Chianna!

MONQ is not like liquid pot at all. It acts just like a diffuser that you activate with your mouth instead of electricity ( the other ones you usually have to plug in or have batteries for). With this device you’re also not inhaling any chemicals or ingesting anything. It mainly works on the specific blends and aromas to help destress you, give you more energy, increase focus, or so on depending on which blend you choose.

Hope that helps! If not, let me know if you have any other questions about Monq!
