Description

  • Size: 18.6 x 10.4 x 13 inches
  • Capacity: 7.5 lt. (automatically adjusts humidity output)

The Honeywell HCM 350 humidifier is a welcome addition to your home. Its germ free technology dispels mist to keep your home and family 99.9% free from germs and dust. It comes with a huge 7.5 lt. water tank that can humidify up to 500 sq. feet area, and provides relief from any dry air discomforts. It can run for as long as 24 hours per filling, on low settings.

The HCM-350 is perfect to use with babies or small children around as it only produces cool mist. So there’s no worry of any hot water scalding or burns if it’s accidently tipped over. Unlike ultrasonic humidifiers that use vibrations to produce mist, this is an evaporative humidifier that produces mist by evaporating water.

Moist air benefits

The mist provides temporary relief from colds, cold and dry skin. It also helps treat furniture which loses its moisture and starts shrinking because of low humidity. In fact, extremely low humidity levels can also lead to warping and cracking of the furniture.

The mist also helps plants grow healthier and reduce static shocks by returning moisture to the air. Healthy humidity levels at home also reduce heating costs by making your body feel warmer. This lets you set thermostats to lower temperatures.

Design

The unit however is relatively bigger than other humidifiers with its 18 inches length but is shatterproof and dishwasher-safe. There’s also a built-in handle for convenient portability. Refilling it is easy as it sits flat on your kitchen sink, and has a large tank opening.

You have to rely on the translucent strip on its side to keep a tab on water levels because the Honeywell hcm 350 does not have an automatic shut-off feature. This is a potential drawback to many. You have to manually switch off the unit to prevent it’s overheating from running on an empty tank.

How it works

Honeywell provides clean moisture by using UV light to kill all the bacteria, mold, fungus and viruses in the water. The sanitized water then reaches its base and is absorbed by the WICK filter.

This large wick sits in water and air is pushed through it to emit 99.9% germ-free mist into the air. The filters are easily replaced twice a year for optimal performance. While the device does not have a humidistat it automatically adjusts its output to ensure maximum moisture.

The HCM-350 is runs silently on low or medium setting, but you may hear its fan running quietly when in high speed. Some people however don’t mind it because it lulls them to sleep! Use only water with the Honeywell humidifier, and not essential oils because the oils only damage the unit and void its warranty.

Pros

  • 25% quieter than other evaporative humidifiers, thanks to its QuietCare technology
  • Dispels soothing moisture to attack dry air problems
  • Adjust moisture output and sound levels through 3 speed settings
  • Large 7.5lt. Water tank ensures it runs for 24 hours on a low setting
  • Wicking filter treated with Protec antimicrobial to remove 99.9% of water impurities
  • Easy to use, clean and refill
  • Filters to be replaced bi-annually
  • 3 year limited warranty

Cons

  • Must use only genuine Honeywell replacement wicking filters
  • No automatic shut-off feature
  • Meant only for medium-sized rooms
  • Filters need to dry between uses

Conclusion

It’s true that the Honeywell HCM-350W germ free humidifier is bigger than other humidifier’s, but that is because it is meant for medium sized rooms. However the fact that it stands well on flat surfaces, runs quietly, and offers clean, cool and pure mist compensates for the disadvantage.
