How To Use Hemp Seed Oil With Other Essential Oils

You’ve probably heard of Hemp oil and the magical health benefits it brings. However, many people don’t realize the oil’s therapeutic properties, and thus consider it a narcotic, which in turn reduces its fame.

Last week I wrote an article on the difference between hemp and cannabis oil, as well as some of the many MANY benefits of hempseed oil. Feel free to catch up on the differences, so you know why I’m writing another post about this underrated extract.

No more acne, no more irritation, and no more skin dryness. The oil works with all skin types. Just one of the benefits of use. It sounds nice already.

The oil’s richness in essential fatty acids, vitamins, proteins and minerals makes it fantastic in treating various ailments. Lower your cholesterol, bring back the shine to your hair, regulate hormonal imbalance, and so on.

Hemp seed oil is the way to go! Here are some of the best ways to incorporate hemp oil with your favorite essential oils.

Benefits of Blending Hemp Oil With Essential Oils

Take a look:

1. Body Massage Oil

Biochemically, Hemp oil contains a vast amount of proteins and essential fatty acids which are quite similar to the skin’s lipids. During a massage, the essential oils are hastily absorbed through the skin surface.

Once in the body, the oil will then play a significant role in reducing skin aging while ensuring that it stays hydrated.

2. Prevention of skin infections

Hemp seed is also rich in essential fatty acids – omega-3 and omega-6, gamma-linolenic acid(GLA) and alpha-linolenic acid. You don’t need to know what each one does, but you should know that your body craves all of them.

When mixed with essential oils such as rosemary, lavender, and tea tree oil, these compounds ensure that there is a continuous regeneration of skin cells and maintenance of the skin’s wellness. Moreover, including hemp seed oil in your diet ensures that your skin maintains important nutrients.

Hemp along with other essential oils prevents chronic dry skin condition such as:

The essential oils in hemp oil can help reduce inflammation. You can mix the oil with other essential oils such as rosemary, chamomile, and tea tree to reduce dryness, itching and overall symptoms of eczema. Apply it topically to enhance its functioning.

Psoriasis – Red, Itchy and Scaly patches on the skin

Typically, Psoriasis is aggravated by a deficiency of vitamin D, essential fatty acids, and minerals. Hemp oil can be used to nourish and moisturize the affected area. Mixing it with certain essential oils such as chamomile, lavender and tea tree will produce the best results.

Hemp seed oil is not damaging to the skin and can safety be used on the skin without causing any problems. It can be used to help clear up acne and reduce stubborn scars that are unresponsive to other gels, creams, or ointments.

It’s completely absorbed into the skin shortly after application and will leave your skin smooth and hydrated. Mixing the oil with tea tree oil, already highly popular in skin care and cosmetic products, can produce incredible results.

Skin inflammations

Hemp oil is perfect in relieving skin inflammations, but when used along with other popular essential oils, its effectiveness increases even further. You can apply it to your skin in a massaging manner to alleviate the inflammations and muscular pain. For a relaxing massage-like sensation, mix it with essential oils such as peppermint, eucalyptus, black pepper, and clove before applying it to the affected area.

3. Hemp essential oil Aromatherapy

Using Hemp oil with other essential oils is a common and highly beneficial practice in aromatherapy. The aromatherapy properties associated with hemp seed oil include; calming, relaxing and uplifting.

You might not know it, but most home fresheners are already blended with hemp oil to enhance these emotions! Additionally, you can add the oil in an aromatherapy oil diffuser to produce a sweet flowery scent.

4. Therapeutic applications

The balanced ratio of essential fatty oils in hemp oil can help keep your heart in excellent condition. It promotes healthy cardiovascular function and better performance of the immune system, all while improving blood circulation. Certain mixtures can also strengthen your hair and nails.

It is clear that hemp seed oil mixed with other organic essential oils can be used to achieve various body health benefits. What is even more impressive is that both essential oils and hemp seed oil are readily available and affordable. You might even have some already at home.

The bottom line

Using hemp seed oil as a carrier oil with other essential oils is not only safe but also healthy. Most people overlook carrier oils because they lack the therapeutic components of the other essential oils, but they are actually the best medium for both application and dilution.

The volatile nature of essential oils makes them evaporate rapidly while maintaining the natural smell of the plant. Additionally, hempseed oil doesn’t have an overpowering aroma or low combustion point, making it a perfect partner for diluting the essential oils.

Start making your own blends now and get the best of what your oils have to offer.

I had no idea that hemp oil could help to prevent skin infections. I tend to have some very sensitive skin that gets irritated easily. I wonder if hemp oil could help me to keep my skin healthy and vibrant.

Hi Chris!

Hemp oil works wonders. I remember being a little skeptical when I first used it, at the time to deal with bug bites, but now it’s one of my go to things to pack on a trip and to have at home. It really helps for so many things and actually works to improve your skin at the same time. I’ve noticed it helps with burns, heal cuts, moisturize skin, and so much more. I definitely recommend giving it a try! Let me know how it goes for you.

Can you use HEMP sead oil along with CBD oil?

Jessica April 9, 2018 at 4:49 pm

Hi Gav,

You know what, I’m not exactly 100% on the answer to this. I would suggest asking a doctor for the most clarification.

However, from what I know, if you don’t NEED to take them together, I would personally choose to take them separately. The main reason, in my case, of that cannabinoids work by attaching and binding to receptor cells in your body. By taking both Hemp and CBD oil at the same time, they might end up fighting to influence the nerve endings, therefore leaving you with less benefits compared to taking them separately.

THats just my thought on it though. If you find out any information, please share!

Hi Iam wondering what ratio of hemp seed oil you would use with other essential oils ?
For moisturiser ?

Jessica May 10, 2018 at 6:07 pm

Hi Calire!

Great question. What I would do first is go ahead and decide what type of mosturizer you’re going for. If it for your body, face, hands?

Here is one example for a face and body mostiureizer recipe:
10 drops lavender
5 drops rosemary
3 drops tea tree oil
1/2 cup of shea butter ( 4oz)
and 2 tablespoons of hemp oil ( or a mix of hemp and another of your favorite carrier oils like coconut or almond oil)

Whatever recipe you follow you can go ahead and substitute hemp oil as the carrier oil amount suggested and choose your favorite essential oils to mix in as well.

I want to start massaging clients with hemp seed oil, and would like to know who is not allowed to be massaged with the oil? I would also like to use it in myself as I have servere lower back pains. I have always wanted to try to use it in a a heated sauna, do you think ot wil rnhance its properties with heat?

Jessica July 22, 2018 at 5:17 pm

HI Taiana!

What a great idea. I love that hemp oil is being more and more recognized for their benefits. I have included a site that highlights some of the possible side effects in more detail so you have a better understanding of certain situations or conditions where using this oil may have an affect. Overall, there are very few side affects and they’re not drastic.

As for the sauna, while you can use hemp seep oil, just heating it up and diffusing it in this way won’t spread any of the benefits since it doesn’t work in the same way essential oils are used for aromatherapy. For hemp seed oil, you really need to apply it topically or ingest it to get all the good stuff.

Hope that helps and you find some relief for your lower back! Feel free to check out my article on back pain relief specifically –
